Recharge your Ipod with... Your cable box?

Yes, Its possible.

While waiting for a Pittsburgh Penguin Hockey game I was going to watch on T.V., I noticed my Ipod needed charged. Now, Being the Avarage American I am (lazy), I did not feel like moving to far to get to one of my computers. Of course my laptop wasn't beside the couch, it was upstairs from my last lazy-attack.

What to do?

"Well, there is that useless USB port on my cable box... Wonder if its powered?", I though to myself.

When I plugged it in, nothing happened. I turned the box off, then back on. The adapter ( --[:: ) light turned on in the battery graphic. The cable box seemed to have found the Ipod and began feeding it power.

I have a Comcast/Motorola HDTV cable box, so this may not work for everyone, but I don't have any other types of boxes, just the same models in HD.

Could this mean that a Ipod compatible On-demand service may eventually come directly from the cable companys? I'm not quite sure, but I got a niffty, always on USB ipod recharger out of it.

My high school uses what seems to be a unmodified/non-customised Bess filter/firewall.

Today, someone asked me, "Hey [Brak], they block Yahoo! and MySpace. Anything you can do about it?" You betch' ya.

After mumbling under my breath about MySpace being an internet wasteland, it hit me.

Once I was in the library, I tryed it.
*click, click*
Yahoo.com worked!
MySpace worked. (Not because of MySpace, just getting around the filter with no tools. ;))

Now your probably thinking, "What a script kiddie, hacking his schools computers. What a loser."
Getting to the sites was not my plan, just knowing google can be used as a "1337 instant hacker tool" was my goal.

Script kiddies suck! I'm just lazy!

(Hmm... Not working today, more people read my blog than I thought. Awh well, I got payed for thier page veiw.)

Well after some thinking I have decided to turn comments back on to registered Blogger users. I have slown down a bit too 300 visitors a day from the peak of 2,100 because of the Digg.com story. But, if people abuse the comment system again I will take it down.

Ads. Yes, I have added Google Adsense ads. So far it seems it will pay off, I made $0.61 within 20 minuites after they were added, and I expect that to grow now that I have started to work on projects/images.

Well, the good news is that 25 Hour days got 750+ Diggs for the gmail story but now... Digg has slown to a crawl! I could only catch a glimps of our diggs, now I can't even connect to digg. Someone has to know about it, the images are gone, or its not sending me any, all I get (If anything) is pure text. Even that is not well aligned, so mostlikely its a server problem.

And yes, the spacing problem still extists. What the crap!

GMail Hack... Final version.

As most people may know, Gmail allows the use of tags in your email address. It turned out that this can be used as an exploit.

By adding the +[Something] to your email (e.x. Ghack+tag99@gmail.com), Gmail will send it to your normal address and place it in that tags folder. But, if these tag folders are not defined Gmai sends it to your inbox. This is great if you are worried about spam, because you can always block "emails" from the tag.

The point that I am making is that many web forums do not block the "+" tags in email addresses, allowing users too sign up for a "free giveaway" with only one real email multiple times. Why is this? The form/database treats it as a unique email and okays the address. This is obviously theft and should not be done, but if you are working for a company who does this, you may want to make some changes.
